US LOCAL FOOD PANTRIES LIST
How to get free food from local food pantries if you are in need.
Local food pantries are places where people can pick up donated items such as canned goods, fresh goods, hygiene items, natural food.
New clients for the first time do not know where their next meal is going to come from.
The need for these services has increased about 300% since the Coronavirus pandemic, and food donations have been down about 50%. The number of volunteers is also down.
According to the US department of agriculture about 11% of American households were food insecure at some point in 2018. Now the COVID-19 Pandemic has made that situation much worse for many families.
American food banks and food pantries are seeing unprecedented demand and are struggling to keep up as unemployment surges in the US.
With unemployment skyrocketing, many families no longer have enough money for groceries, leading to record lines at food banks across the country.
The demand for food in America right now is unprecedented. People with children who relied on school meals are being particularly hard hit.
FEEDING AMERICA estimates that they will need to serve an additional 17.1 Million people on top of the 37 to 40 Million people they are already serving.
The number of hungry in the US is now at 50 Million. These Americans are experiencing what the government calls food insecurity which means not knowing when you’ll find the next meal. That uncertainty now affects 1 in 6 Americans.
According to the federal government at some point during the year about 15% of American households will be unable to provide adequate, nutritious meals.
Food pantries are seeing more first time visitors than ever before. All of the feeding America across the country are scrambling to get enough resources to meet the need.
The majority of clients reported purchasing inexpensive unhealthy foods to ensure household food adequacy, and many reported watering down food and beverages.
